Master KG Faces Lawsuit Over Jerusalema Ownership as Charmza the DJ Takes Legal Action
The legal battle over the global hit, Jerusalema, is far from over, as Charmza the DJ has taken Master KG to court, claiming he is the true creator of the viral track. The case, which has been ongoing since June 2022, is set to go to trial at the Pretoria High Court from November 17 to November 25, 2025, with the possibility of an extension if necessary.
Charmza has named multiple defendants in the lawsuit, including Master KG’s former record label, Open Mic Productions, online licensing platform Africori, and musician Biblos. According to court documents, he plans to call three witnesses to support his claim that he deserves full credit for the song’s creation.
Beyond the courtroom drama, the legal battle has taken a tragic turn for Charmza, who recently lost his father and sibling in a shooting incident. Fearing for his safety, the DJ has reportedly gone into hiding, adding another layer of tension to the dispute.
