Nadia Nakai Steps Away from Club Gigs to Focus on Artistic Growth
Nadia Nakai is entering a new phase in her career—one defined by intention, growth, and a clear break from the club scene that once played a major role in her rise.
Speaking on the Defining Podcast, the rapper opened up about her evolving relationship with performance, revealing that she’s no longer interested in club appearances.
“I’m tired,” she admitted candidly. “When I see myself performing or hosting in clubs, I’m cringing… what am I doing at this stage of the game? I don’t wanna be doing this.”
Rather than gradually stepping away, Nadia Nakai has made a firm decision—she’s officially stopped accepting club bookings, noting that her last appearance in that setting was on New Year’s.
Going forward, her focus is clear: performances that feel purposeful and musically fulfilling.
“I’m not doing club gigs. I’m not doing performances where it’s just me and my DJ,” she said. “If you’re booking me, it has to be festivals—and I’m bringing a band. If I can’t bring a band, leave me out of it.”
This shift marks more than just a change in venue—it signals a deeper artistic evolution. Nadia Nakai is actively moving away from the fast-paced, image-driven nature of club performances, choosing instead to prioritise musicality, live instrumentation, and a more refined presentation of her craft.
“I feel like I need to grow as a musician… just popping bottles in the club, I’m not there anymore. I don’t wanna be there anymore. I absolutely hate it.”
At its core, the decision reflects self-awareness and control—an artist setting new standards for how she wants to be seen and experienced.
“You deserve to ask for what you want,” she added. “And getting that—that is what is happening.”
With this move, Nadia Nakai isn’t just changing her performance style—she’s redefining what her next chapter looks like.
