Recently, Davido expressed his deep interest in the Edo governorship election, sharing on X (formerly Twitter) that Davido’s late mother, Imade Veronica Adeleke, originated from Edo State, which heightened his personal stake in the election’s results.
Kemi Olunloyo, an outspoken investigative journalist known for her provocative statements, has launched a scathing critique on social media, accusing Afrobeats icon Davido of being all rhetoric and no substance regarding his late mother’s family in Edo State.
However, Kemi was quick to respond. Outraged by what she perceived as a mere publicity stunt, she criticized the artist for “chasing clout” online while allegedly maintaining a distant and indifferent relationship with Davido’s late mother’s family in private. Kemi, known for her forthrightness, asserted that despite Davido’s public expressions of pride in his Edo heritage, he has been neglecting his roots for an extended period. She went further to allege that billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke, Davido’s father, significantly contributed to this estrangement.
According to Kemi, Deji intentionally distanced young Davido from Davido’s late mother’s relatives following her tragic passing, even when Davido was only nine years old. She also alluded to potential issues in Deji and Veronica’s marriage prior to her untimely death, suggesting that these unresolved matters may have played a role in the strained family relationships.
Kemi boldly called on Davido to cease leveraging Davido’s late mother’s name for political purposes and instead take meaningful steps to reconnect with her relatives in Edo. She emphasized that it is time for Davido to mend the fractured relationships he has long overlooked.
Meanwhile, Davido has recently commented on the relationship troubles of his logistics manager, Israel DMW, and his ex-wife, Sheila Courage. Davido suggested that Sheila might be regretting her decision to end the marriage, reflecting on their luxurious lifestyle.
“I know Israel DMW’s ex-wife is feeling bad, man. You’re on top, my nigga. We’re flying jets, we’re balling billions of dollars. Her loss!” Davido remarked during an Instagram video.
In other news, social media activist Verydarkman has reversed his support for Dammy Krane in his legal battle with Davido. Verydarkman, who had previously advocated for Dammy Krane’s release, now criticized him for refusing to apologize to Davido. The activist revealed that Dammy Krane had rejected a drafted apology and lacked evidence against Davido.
Additionally, controversial media figure Daniel Regha has sparked debate by criticizing Davido’s father, Adedeji Adeleke, over his recent N1 billion donation to a church. Regha argued that while charitable donations are valuable, the large sum could have been better used to create job opportunities in a country struggling with poverty. “Giving to the church is fine, but donating over a billion to any church, in a country where millions are starving and struggling to survive, doesn’t seem right,” Regha commented.
