Controversial media personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has described deserving, the Grammy win of South African singer Tyla.
Nigerian artists, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Davido, Asake, and Olamide were snubbed at the 66th Grammys on Sunday, with Tyla, the only non-Nigerian nominee in the maiden Best African Music Performance category, picking up the award.
Reacting to the uproar of some Nigerians, Daddy Freeze during a recent Instagram live session with fans, insisted that Tyla’s Grammy win was well deserved.
He said:
“Tyla’s Grammy win over Nigerian artists was not ojoro. I don’t see the ojoro. I’m struggling to see the ojoro.
“Globally, in my opinion, Water’ was a slightly bigger song than Nigerian songs nominated. It doesn’t mean those songs were not big. They were very big. It’s just that Water’ has more vitality. It is massive on Tiktok.”
