Sean Combs, widely known as Diddy, a prominent figure in the American music industry, has found himself embroiled in controversy after being implicated in the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur. New court documents allege that the head of Bad Boys Records paid $1 million to orchestrate Shakur’s assassination through defendant Duane “Keefe D” Davis, who was arrested for the murder last year.
The legal filings, submitted on Thursday (July 18), extensively mention Diddy under his various aliases including Puffy, Puff Daddy, and his birth name, Sean Combs, a total of 77 times. According to excerpts from the documents, Davis, in conversations with law enforcement, implicated Diddy in the plot, claiming that Diddy offered the substantial sum to have Shakur killed.
In one of the transcripts, Davis reportedly testified about Diddy’s alleged involvement in Shakur’s death, stating that Diddy expressed fear of Shakur and a desire to see harm come to him. Prosecutors have cited these revelations in their opposition to Davis’ recent bail application, citing concerns over the legitimacy of the funds used for his bail bond.
Despite these developments, it remains unclear whether Diddy will face subpoenas or charges related to the case. The allegations have reignited interest in the decades-old mystery surrounding Tupac Shakur’s tragic death, placing Diddy at the center of a legal and media storm.
