Nigerian singer Seun Kuti has shared his positive experience regarding his collaboration with Fireboy DML, highlighting the younger artist’s respectful demeanor.
In discussing their collaboration with Fireboy, Kuti expressed admiration for the way the artist approached their work together. Fireboy featured several talents on his new album, Adedamola, released on August 28, 2024, with Seun Kuti among them. Reflecting on their collaboration with Fireboy, Kuti recounted how Fireboy initially reached out to offer financial compensation. Instead of finalizing the details over the phone, Fireboy chose to visit Kuti’s home, which allowed them to work together more directly. Kuti appreciated this personal touch and was pleased with the respectful nature of their collaboration.
Kuti, a Grammy winner, contrasted his experience with other collaborations, noting that while some less talented artists may cover their shortcomings with arrogance, his collaboration with Fireboy was marked by professionalism and respect.

Meanwhile, Seun Kuti has also opened up about his personal life, declaring fatherhood as his greatest achievement while reflecting on his complex relationship with his first daughter. In a recent interview with media personality Timi Agbaje, Kuti shared the joy he finds in raising his daughter, despite the challenges posed by having children with two different mothers.
“The greatest thing I have ever achieved is becoming a father, having my daughter, being with her, and raising her,” Kuti stated. He admitted that while he has two children, he is not as close to his other daughter due to strained circumstances with her mother.
When asked by Timi Agbaje about the discrepancy in his relationship with his daughters, Kuti explained, “No, it’s complicated circumstances; no family is perfect, you know, but I’m not close to the mother of my other daughter. I wasn’t married when I had my other daughter; interestingly, I had only had premarital sex twice before my first daughter was born.”
In a related knews, Seun Kuti previously revealed that MKO Abiola framed his father, Fela Kuti for robbery and also marked him to be killed. Seun Kuti accused the late MKO Abiola and his wife, Simbiat, of hatching a devious scheme to frame his father for armed robbery during Muhammadu Buhari’s brutal military dictatorship. In his shocking revelation, Seun Kuti alleged that the Abiolas made up a narrative about Fela boldly stealing their Ferrari at gunpoint.
According to him, the accusation came at a time when Buhari’s Deputy Head of State, the hardline Tunde Idiagbon, was executing draconian laws that made armed robbery a capital offense, punishable by death.
Seun Kuti’s words;
“Abiola and his wife, Simbiat, lied against Fela that he and his boys robbed her of her Ferrari at gunpoint under Idiagbon’s regime. This was Abiola and his wife’s plan to kill my dad because, under Idiagbon, armed robbery was punishable by death.
“Abiola and Simbiat wrote a statement at a police station that they saw Fela and his gang rob her at gunpoint. This led to Fela’s arrest which is punishable by death, but luckily for Fela, he was performing in Cameroon the very day Simbiat was lying about the theft. Fela escaped the case because he can’t be in two places at the same time; its either he’s on a stage in Cameroon or robbing in Lagos.
“Responding, Fela and my elder brother, Femi, took 12 buckets of faeces go and listen to his song – give me shit, I give you shit – then you will have a better understanding. They took it to Abiola’s house in the middle of the night and smeared his compound.
“The next day, the police visited my father’s house saying they came to investigate the shit-show in Abiola’s house the previous day. But Fela denied the act saying if given the opportunity, he would smear Abiola’s house with faeces.”
