Hip-hop icon Diddy, facing serious allegations of racketeering and sex trafficking, is being staunchly defended by Diddy’s lawyer, Teny Geragos.
On September 18, Geragos, who appeared on News Nation’s Cuomo, emphasized that Diddy’s controversial lifestyle choices do not equate to criminal behaviour, refuting comparisons to figures like Jeffrey Epstein. Diddy’s lawyer Geragos, who is pictured during the interview, asserted Diddy’s innocence, stating, “He’s innocent,” after the 54-year-old rapper, whose real name is Sean Combs, was denied bail and ordered to remain in pre-trial detention. She argued that participating in certain activities, even those perceived as morally questionable, does not constitute a crime.
Geragos further clarified that Diddy has not been charged with any offenses involving minors, distinguishing his case from others like Epstein’s. “The difference here between R. Kelly, Epstein, is no charges relating to minors,” Diddy’s lawyer explained, underscoring that the allegations against Diddy do not involve underage individuals.
The indictment against Diddy includes accusations of orchestrating drug-fuelled, multi-day sexual events known as “Freak Offs,” where participants were allegedly subjected to extreme conditions. Prosecutors have claimed that these activities left some women so physically depleted that they required IV drips for recovery. Additionally, a significant amount of baby oil, reportedly used during these events, was discovered at Diddy’s properties.
Despite the serious nature of these allegations, Diddy’s lawyer Geragos highlighted that there has been no claim that the women involved did not consent. She stated, “What was notable today, what my partner Mark said in court, is they never once said that these women didn’t consent to what happened, not once.”
In the same defense, another attorney for Diddy, Marc Agnifilo, addressed an alleged attack on Diddy’s former girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, which was partially captured on video. Agnifilo argued that the relationship between Diddy and Cassie was consensual and that the authorities were unjustly intervening in Diddy’s private life. “Is it sex trafficking? Not if everybody wants to be there,” Agnifilo argued.
As the case continues, Diddy’s lawyer remains committed to proving her client’s innocence, challenging the narrative that his lifestyle equates to criminal conduct.
Recall that Sean “Diddy” Combs was taken into custody by federal agents on Monday evening at a hotel in Manhattan, New York. This arrest followed a grand jury indictment, marking a significant development in Diddy’s legal troubles, which had been ongoing for nearly a year, largely due to a civil lawsuit filed by his former partner, Cassie Ventura. This lawsuit reportedly led to at least ten additional legal claims against him.
Despite the accusations, Sean “Diddy” Combs had consistently denied all allegations. While the specific charges had not been publicly disclosed by the prosecutors, Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, claiming the prosecution was unjust.
Agnifilo highlighted that Sean “Diddy” Combs had voluntarily traveled to New York in preparation for these charges, stating, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sean “Diddy” Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist.”
The lawyer also added that while Diddy is not perfect, he is far from being a criminal. “To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation, and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,” Agnifilo concluded.
The judge’s decision to deny bail for Diddy remained in effect until his trial.
