LeriQ – “Say You Love Me” ft. Wizkid

Jim Donnett’s Verdict

I couldn’t think of anyone else better suited to feature on LeriQ’s song than Wizkid. Even better because he has morphed his act into a package – the singer, the performer and the actor. Once it’s about girls, forgerrit! Wizzy will definitely come through. Aside that, he’s one act whose versatility is worth every brag. He is otherwise the vocal genius when it comes to freestyles… Just give him the mic and pon de beat! He will slay without mercy.

LeriQ doesn’t make much of an appearance let alone vocally but we get to hear and see him too on this joint as he catches up fast to the chemistry that builds, spun off the sounds of his self-produced track. The R&B styled flick induces a sensual tension that is not unconnected with an obvious fact that there’s a bevy of hot ladies trolling around the video.

Solidstar – “Baby Jollof” ft. Tiwa Savage

Jim Donnett’s Verdict

I think by now, everyone can agree with me when I say there’s this very special air of grace that Tiwa Savage brings into anything she’s featured on. Call it her own sunshine or whatever it be, it sure adds a brightening effect and has a way of turning things up. Baby Jollof reminds you of those times when our uncles played the street love affair with that beautiful aunty who lives around the block’s corner. As typically relative as the concept presents itself (considering it’s not one of those outside the box thinking kind), Clarence Peters brushed it up around the edges and gave it a finish that befits exceptionally.

The scenes shot during the dusk and showing serenity of the streets are some of the video props that one just can’t miss. It’s also in my opinion that Solidstar and Tiwa Savage executed (and quite impeccably too) the definition of a flirtatious context in a music video. Seyi Shay should please take note. I won’t forget the guys at the styling division, Tiwa rocked those ensembles effortlessly and then Solidstar… although he was shirtless almost throughout the video but he looked good.

  1. I believe that Leriq did a great job by featuring Wizkid, his voice in that song, the way he plays with it,especially the ‘…080tonight…’ part, and the part where he uses Pidgin english,I’m not Nigerian so pidgin fascinates me.
