Deborah Oluwasheyi Joshua is a Nigerian based English songwriter/singer, recording artiste, performer and record producer.

Born December 21, 1985 in London, England to a Yoruba father and a mother of northern descent, Seyi who studied music at a local UK college, and went on to study Business Management at the University of East London has always been musically inclined and had been going on tours from childhood.

Professionally known by her stage name Seyi Shay (pronounced Shay-yee Shay), her music career took an upswing when she signed her first ever record deal with No Apology, a record company affiliated with George Martin (commonly referred to as the “Fifth Beatle”). Later on, Shay formed a girl band in the UK called Boadicea but separated after two years, then she decided to partake in the From Above UK singing audition where she emerged lead vocalist for the aforementioned group (now defunct).

The group consisting of five girls, including Shay luckily got signed to Mathew Knowles’ management company and after performing for him they were taken to Houston to undergo energetic vocal and dance trainings. Apart from supporting Beyonce during her I Am world tour, they also presented an award at the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards, and had their own MTV reality show called Breaking From Above, which aired in over 166 countries around the world. On their separation, Seyi as a solo artist,  had the opportunity to continue her management deal with Matthew Knowles as well as secure a recording contract with Sony which later led to her signing a record deal with Flytime Music to pursue a musical career in Nigeria.

Shay has written songs for and worked with a number of musicians, including Justin Timberlake, Brian Michael Cox, Darey, Bilal, Michelle Williams, Chip, Rob Knoxx, H-Money, as well as Cameron Wallace and has gotten both nominations and prestigious awards.
